1964, the olympic games were setting of, Japan is going crazy and see the need for an innovation in watches. The world time was born. A watch with an additional hand, the 24hour hand. A turning internal bezel makes checking time anywhere in the world a move of seconds instead of a trip to the library. Just spin the inner bezel to the right spot and you know all the timezones in the world. Made for people of the world!

Well, this one is from 67, olympics is every 4 years? Good point. The reason this one exists is the fact that seiko had these cases and casebacks still in stock after the Tokyo olympics but it is pretty hard to sell an olympic watch when there are no Olympic Games. So the marketing department of Seiko went big brain when the Mexican games were approaching. In the run up of the games in 68 Seiko started making the watches again to push them out during the olympics. Making this watch perhaps even MORE rare as the ones made for the Tokyo games.

This example here for sale is exceptional case wise, it has a super sharp case with all the correct finished. I personally do suspect a previous polish. Furthermore, the inner bezel is not 10/10, explaining why the price for this example is lower as for example a Tokyo one.

Running on a 6217 movement, serviced in house, this watch is ready to tell you the time, the day and the time in Tokyo at any time ( except for the pool, please don't go swimming with this beauty).
