Omega REF 2760-6 | Cal. 283 | 1952 | Honeycomb Dial | Box Included
Offered here is a stunning example of Omega’s post-war craftsmanship: the Omega Ref. 2760-6, housing the legendary Caliber 283, dated to circa 1952. This piece stands as a testament to the golden age of Swiss watchmaking—both mechanically and aesthetically.
The watch features an exceptionally well-preserved honeycomb dial, a rare and desirable texture that Omega only used during a limited production window in the early 1950s. This dial variation was part of Omega's exploration into both functional anti-reflective properties and avant-garde design at a time when dress watches were evolving into everyday timekeeping instruments. Unlike many other dial finishes, the honeycomb texture was pressed into the metal, giving it a distinct, dimensional shimmer under light—something photos can rarely do justice.
Inside beats the hand-wound Cal. 283, a direct descendant of the famed 30T2 series—known for its robustness, precision, and wartime reliability. The 283 belongs to the second generation of the 30mm family and features a higher beat rate and improved shock protection, making it one of the most reliable movements Omega ever produced.
Case measures 35mm excluding crown, with long twisted lugs providing wrist presence that punches above its size. Original crown and matching Omega-signed crystal are intact, contributing to the watch’s overall honesty and originality.
The caseback is engraved with the serial SR13889962, consistent with production timelines and Omega's serial charts from 1952. Included in this offering is an original Omega box from the era, a rarity in itself and a perfect complement to the watch’s vintage pedigree.
This is not merely a watch—it’s a slice of horological history, and one of Omega’s more obscure yet fascinating references. A piece for the collector who values design, mechanics, and story in equal measure.
