The Oyster Perpetual 1018 is one of those Rolex references that quietly does everything right. Produced in low numbers between the early 1960s and mid-1980s, the 1018 stood apart as a non-date, time-only model in a full-size 36mm Oyster case — the same proportions as a vintage Datejust, but without the fluted bezel or Cyclops. What’s left is pure, unfiltered Rolex: clean, well-built, and effortlessly versatile.
This particular example dates to ~1967 (serial 17392xx) and remains in honest, well-preserved condition. The silver sunburst dial has aged gracefully, with crisp printing and intact lume plots. The case retains strong lines, with no evidence of over-polishing. Inside ticks the reliable chronometer-rated Caliber 1570, one of Rolex’s most proven workhorses — fresh off a full service and running within spec. Hacking seconds, smooth hand-winding, automatic winding — everything works as it should.
