King Seiko 5625-8001 – 4N069X (November 1974)

A clean and sharp King Seiko that shows exactly why this line has become such a favorite among collectors. Strong, angular case design paired with a crisp silver dial—this is vintage Seiko at its most confident.

The dial is beautifully executed with applied indices and a clean date window, keeping the layout balanced and highly legible. The handset is classic Seiko: sharp, functional, and catching the light just right. The overall look is refined, but with enough presence on the wrist thanks to the faceted case design of the 1970s.

Fitted on its original steel bracelet, this example feels cohesive and period-correct. It wears comfortably and has that solid, well-built feel you expect from a King Seiko.

A great example of a later King Seiko—practical, precise, and increasingly appreciated.

Technical background

The 5625 movement belongs to the renowned 56KS family, known for its slim profile and high-beat performance. Running at 28,800 bph, it delivers excellent accuracy and a smooth sweep of the seconds hand.

This caliber features a quickset date mechanism, making it very practical for daily use. However, as with all vintage Seiko quickset systems, care is required: the quickset should never be used between approximately 20:00 and 05:00, as the date change mechanism is engaged during these hours and damage can occur.

The 56KS series represents the final evolution of King Seiko, combining precision with a more modern, wearable design.
