Case: 35mm stainless steel, unpolished with original brushed surfaces and sharp transitions. Signed crown and original Omega crystal. Screw-down caseback featuring the Seamaster hippocampus in high relief.

Dial: Factory-original silver dial with vertical brushing—a less frequently seen configuration on the 166.003. All lume plots present and stable. Tritium hour markers and hands have aged evenly, retaining their original luminous material. No retouching or restoration.

Movement: Omega Caliber 565, one of the brand’s most robust and refined automatic movements from the era. Features include a quick-set date mechanism and hacking seconds. The movement has been recently serviced and is running well within spec. Sold with a 24-month mechanical warranty.

Originally introduced in the mid-1960s, the Omega Seamaster 166.003 occupies a transitional moment in Omega’s design language—combining the utilitarian charm of early Seamasters with increasingly refined casework and dial execution. It was one of the last Seamaster models before the line shifted heavily toward sport and diver-focused watches in the 1970s.

The Caliber 565, launched in 1965, marked the final evolution of Omega’s legendary 5xx series before being replaced by the 10xx family. It remains a favorite among collectors for its durability and ease of service.

This example—produced in the late 1960s—is distinguished by its vertical-brushed dial, a less common dial finish compared to the more typical sunburst or matte variants. It offers a subtle visual texture that changes dynamically with light, while preserving the clean, understated look typical of the reference.
