Perpetual Watch Lover (PWL)
Omega bumper Yellow gold Chronometer
A lovely yellow gold Omega bumper hit our store today. What a piece of history this is. She speaks, no she yells, about life. Telling the story of time in both a visual as mechanical way. What a piece this is.
This particular watch has been part of what Omega saw as their peak of design on both mechanical as exterior side of the watch. Later these watches got categorized under the constellation line. One could call this chronometer omega bumper actually a 'pre constellation' if one would like.
If you look closely at the caseback you can also see the omega logo without a reference number, this is typical for what is considered export timepieces. Now this watch has been exported to (most likely) France where JP made the cases for Omega at the time. JP being one of the more known case producers of the 1940's giving this watch truly some extra depth.
The dial shows the signs of life, patina around 3 o'clock is obviously for many watch collectors already as sign. Moisture. Yes, this is pre seamster times, the crowns were not too waterproof often on them. So, yes, she got hit with water early in life. The movement is completely free of rust and the dial now as of a result of this shows LIFE. It shows you something different. Something unique.
