A beautifully preserved vintage Rolex Air-King Date Ref. 5700 dating to 1960, distinguished by its striking original gilt craquelé dial.

The black dial has developed a wonderful natural craquelé texture over the decades, with fine hairline cracking across the glossy surface. Rather than detracting from the dial, this ageing gives it the distinctive character that makes original vintage Rolex dials so desirable. The gilt Rolex signature, Air-King Date text and Super Precision lettering remain clearly visible, complemented by the applied dagger-style hour markers and gilt minute track.

The 34 mm stainless-steel Oyster case retains its elegant proportions, with the smooth bezel and characteristic vintage Rolex lugs giving the watch a timeless appearance. The acrylic crystal and case show honest signs of age consistent with a watch that is now more than six decades old.

Inside beats the automatic Rolex calibre 1530, an important early Oyster Perpetual movement from the period and a fitting calibre for this early Air-King Date.
