Seiko 7050-7080 – 0352XX (February 1970)

A sharp and slightly under-the-radar piece from Seiko’s early automatic era. The 7050 series doesn’t get the same attention as its higher-beat siblings, but it delivers exactly what you want from a vintage daily: clean design, solid mechanics, and that unmistakable 1970s Seiko case presence.

The sunburst silver dial plays beautifully with the light, paired with applied indices and strong handset for excellent legibility. The framed date window keeps things practical without disturbing the symmetry. What really stands out here is the case—angular, compact, and very much in line with Seiko’s transition into more modern design language.

Fitted on its original steel bracelet, this one wears exactly as intended. It gives the watch a cohesive, period-correct look that’s getting harder to find complete.

A great entry into vintage Seiko—or a solid addition for someone who appreciates the less obvious references.

Technical background

The Seiko 7050 automatic movement belongs to the late 1960s / early 1970s generation of robust, workhorse calibers. Designed for reliability and ease of service, it features a straightforward architecture without unnecessary complexity.

These movements typically run at 21,600 bph and were part of Seiko’s push to offer dependable automatic watches across a wide range of price points, bridging the gap between entry-level automatics and the more refined Lord Matic and King Seiko lines.
