Tudor Oyster Prince Ranger Ref. 7996

The Tudor Ranger is one of the most sought-after vintage Tudor models, and this early reference 7996 is an especially interesting example. Produced for only a very short period, the 7996 represents one of the earliest automatic date-equipped Rangers and is considerably rarer than the later shield-logo examples.

What makes this particular watch stand out is the small Tudor rose Ranger dial. The matte black dial features the characteristic Explorer-style layout with large Arabic numerals at 3, 6, 9 and 12, elongated luminous markers and the distinctive Ranger handset. The small rose logo and the “Prince Oysterdate Ranger Self-Winding” signature are typical of these early examples.

The watch retains its original vintage character, with honest signs of wear to the case and bracelet. The dial shows a small smudge/imperfection around the 3 o’clock area, visible on close inspection, while the aged luminous material and dial patina give the watch an authentic period appearance.

The 34 mm Oyster case wears beautifully on the wrist and is powered by the automatic ETA 2484 movement. Combined with the highly unusual small rose Ranger dial, this is a particularly collectible configuration that rarely appears on the market.
